April 2000 Giving Letter

April 12, 2000

Dear Church Family,

We are entering the most exciting month of the year for me as we approach Palm Sunday and Easter. Many of us enjoy the Christmas season, but it is the victory that was won on Calvary’s cross that gives us eternal hope.

The purpose of this letter is two-fold: first it is to report to you that after the first quarter of the new year our giving as a church is averaging $37,259 per week. God is accomplishing this through the willingness of many in our church to faithfully and steadfastly tithe. (If you would like a record of your personal giving year-to-date, please contact the church office (265-0199) and one will be forwarded to you.)

Secondly, I want to encourage you one last time to prayerfully consider your part in this Sunday’s Crucifixion Offering. Our goal is to receive $300,000 in gifts and in commitments. This offering will be used to help cover the costs of our new Worship Center and Grace West. Great things are not accomplished without great sacrifice, and this is our opportunity to accomplish something truly great for our Lord and Savior.

Finally, next week is one of the greatest evangelistic opportunities of our calendar year. Many people who would not think twice about coming to church will make the effort on Easter Sunday. Our Easter service will be filled with celebration and rejoicing! Most importantly, we will clearly present the gospel message. Invite your lost friends and family to church and pray for their salvation.

On a personal note, I want to thank you for the privilege of serving you. It is such a joy to be your pastor! God has given us a great opportunity here in Des Moines, and I believe we are on the threshold of seeing God do great and might works in our community. My prayer is that when the Lord says, “Now is the time!” we are ready. Grace Church, be faithful, be committed, and most importantly, be prepared!

Sincerely,

David Nelms
Senior Pastor
