Baby Dedication Letter (1998)

Dear Parents,

Children are indeed a gift from God, and I am so excited about your decision to honor God by dedicating your child May 3rd. We have designed the service with a couple of goals in mind. Primarily, we seek to honor our heavenly Father, the giver of life. If you struggled in the birthing process you know first hand what a tremendous gift you have in your child. Outside of the gift of salvation, God has entrusted you with the most precious gift He could provide, the gift of life. On May 3rd we will offer ourselves to God, pledging to bring our children up to love and revere Him.

Our second purpose is, as always, to fulfill the Great Commission, that is pointing people to Christ. It is a fact that many people are inclined to attend churches to witness a baby dedication. Knowing that to be so, we plan to present the gospel so that your family will at least have the Word of God planted in their hearts.
There are a couple of things you can do to make this service as meaningful as possible. First, please invite your family and friends to this service. Can you imagine your unsaved family member accepting Christ as a result of your willingness to dedicate your child to the Lord? Second, be in prayer for this service. Ask God to help you realize the importance of rearing your child to honor God.

I am so honored that you have allowed me to be your pastor. I am praying for you and your child.

In Christ,

Pastor David
