## Highlights
- 🧵This tweet by @danshipper about @RoamResearch has been getting some traction. /1

- Called "The Fall of Roam," good title, but a little too early for a prediction (I've lived long enough to remember when Apple was a "niche product," then a "dead OS," then a "dead company.") /2 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659392515969028))
- The primary question that plagues Dan, is "Where should I put this?" (There are five variations of this idea present in the article). /3

- This is easily answered . . . /4

- I've expanded on this thought here . . . /5

- Embrace the discomfort, @danshipper . . . /6

- Roam isn't anti-hierachial . . . /7

- See the hierachy? /8

- See these tags? Every one of them adds manual connectivity, in addition to automatic linking. /9

- Here, we see that in action. Information is attached to a day (Feb 14, 2022), a topic (Roam Resistance), in a place (Superorganizers/Every, Evernote), a person (Dan Shipper), etc. /10

- Dan, I appreciate the thought that went into your article. However, I don't believe that your discomfort spells "The Fall of Roam." You are asking the wrong question of @RoamResearch: /11
 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659425810309125))
- And, you have made some wrong assumptions. The core idea behind Roam, and that has caught on with dedicated users, is NOT bidirectional linking. It IS, in my opinion, a network of atomic thoughts (not a new concept, but an updated methodology). /12
 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659429530656778))
- For me, @RoamResearch is the perfect tool for atomic thought, like my brain, it grows and develops, I interact with it, I change it as needed, and I never have to ask myself, "Where do I put this?" /13
 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659433217495049))
- Your discomfort is not because @RoamResearch is failing at the task. Rather, Roam is requiring you to shift paradigms, and perhaps you are not ready to make that shift. Which is fine. There are other tools much more comfortable for you to use. /14 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659435033665543))
- @RoamResearch doesn't need a product change to do what it was never intended to do. /15
 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659438397415432))
- A final point of disagreement: I don't believe that the way forward is more automation. Rather, it is better atomic interconnectivty with the tools we're using (and I leave more of that thought for another post). /16
 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659441811574789))
- Thanks, @danshipper for a timely article, that addresses some of the thinking that others have had concerning @RoamResearch. /17 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659443476709377))
- Even though I disagree with your conclusions, I appreciated the questions and ideas you raised, which helped me to solidify some of my own. /18 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/johnataylor/status/1493659444974080003))
