## Highlights
- The Daniel Prayer is a commitment. A commitment that perseveres over any and every obstacle until Heaven is moved and nations are changed. ([Location 151](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=151))
- Yet through it all, Daniel glorified God by his character and his conduct. ([Location 172](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=172))
- Because God was all that Daniel had. Again and again he threw himself upon God with such complete faith and utter dependence that God came through for him. Powerfully. Personally. Dramatically. Repeatedly. ([Location 176](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=176))
- Make no mistake: our nation—and our world—are coming under the judgment of God. By the time this book is released, this reality may be even more apparent than it is now as I write. God uses dramatic world events to get people’s attention. Revelation 6-19, and many other Scriptures8, reveal that such indicators will be intertwined with His judgment in the end. The signs are all around us. ([Location 206](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=206))
- There are three reasons I believe God’s patience may be running out. One: We have willingly, intentionally, deliberately taken the lives of almost 60 million children. ([Location 223](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=223))
- Two: Our defiance of God’s institution of marriage. Three: Our abandonment of the nation of Israel. ([Location 227](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=227))
- When faced with God’s righteous judgment, there is nothing . . . nothing . . . no politics or president, no government or agreement, no institution or organization, no media or ministry, no economy or military, no alliance or treaty . . . nothing will turn our nation around except prayer. ([Location 233](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=233))
- And that’s the Daniel Prayer. It’s a commitment to pray until the prayer is answered. It’s not easy. It requires time. Energy. Sacrifice. It involves reading and pleading God’s promises. It’s motivated by a wholehearted love that’s willing to suffer, to repent, to sacrifice—to do whatever it takes to get an answer. But whatever you have to sacrifice or invest to make the commitment, the Daniel Prayer will be worth it one hundred times over when Heaven is moved and this nation is changed. ([Location 300](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=300))
- Prayer helps us anchor our faith in God. It’s like setting our spiritual compass so that regardless of the twists and turns during the day, the needle of our focused faith always turns to God. ([Location 361](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=361))
- When Daniel bowed his knees to God, it was an outward gesture that revealed his inner attitude of humility, reverence, submission, and allegiance to the One so much greater than himself or any earthly king or world ruler. ([Location 452](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=452))
- The key to thankfulness is not to view God through the lens of our circumstances, but to view our circumstances through the lens of God’s love and sovereign purpose. ([Location 470](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=470))
- Instead of socially conditioned small talk, the Daniel Prayer is a 911 call for urgent help. The Daniel Prayer is storming the gates of Heaven with what Eugene Peterson calls “reversed thunder”—praying God’s Word back to Him. It’s prayer that penetrates Heaven and impacts a nation. ([Location 521](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=521))
- When was the last time you heard someone pray to the point that you became more aware of the One to whom the person was speaking, than you were of the person doing the speaking? ([Location 525](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=525))
- But the Daniel Prayer is not just venting to God or yelling at Heaven. The Daniel Prayer is not just an outpouring of heartfelt emotion and passionate pleading. It is an outpouring of heartfelt emotion and passionate pleading based on God’s Word as we hold Him to His promises. ([Location 561](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B010RCP3FW&location=561))
- When you and I pray the Daniel Prayer, pleading with God according to His Word, someone else’s salvation, like Abraham’s nephew Lot, may depend on it. So how do you read your Bible? Do you read it to increase your knowledge of the facts and information only? Or do you read it listening expectantly for God to speak to you, then talk to Him about what He has said, basing your prayers on it? Start the habit of reading your Bible each day and highlighting promises or phrases that you can use as the basis of your prayers for our world, for our nation, for others on your prayer list, as well as for yourself.
