## Highlights
- One of the biggest stopping points I've found working with thousands of people as they create their first online course, their first information product, their first presentation, their first book - is Perfection! No one is perfect. You are not. I am not. So get over the idea that anything you create will be perfect. ([Location 53](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=53))
- So be content with doing well now. And don't wait until you are perfect! ([Location 60](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=60))
- When you are writing (or creating anything) there are two parts to the process - the creative and the editing. The creative part comes from the right side of your brain. You want to stay in that side while you are creating new content. Editing comes from the left side of the brain. It's mechanical. And once you go into the mechanics of editing, you have just lost your creative edge. It will take you 5-10 minutes to get back into creative mode. Every time you argue with your word processor about whether or not to indent that line, to correct that grammar, or fix that typo, you are killing your creativity! It takes you twice as long to write when you are going back and forth between the creative side and the editing side. - Build a description of your “ideal” student, so that you can easily picture them and their needs as you create your course. ([Location 172](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=172))
- These are just the first few questions you need to answer. To make it easier for you, I've put all of the questions into a single document that you can get at this site. - If there are a lot of courses on a specific topic, it means the topic is in demand. ([Location 211](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=211))
- None of those courses are taught by you, from your perspective, with your background. You are unique and the course you are designing will be unique as well. ([Location 213](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=213))
- At this point, don't judge any ideas. Don't try to sequence any ideas. Just write as fast as you can. ([Location 221](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=221))
- Regardless of your style of brainstorming, allow yourself some time for this step. Do not go to the next step until you feel you've gotten as many ideas down in a random order as possible. ([Location 224](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=224))
- Continue the process of identifying the steps until you can take them from the beginning to the outcome. ([Location 241](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=241))
- “Tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, then tell them what you told them.” - Aristotle ([Location 260](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B00D8MVZF6&location=260))
